Promethient

Promethient, a graphene-technology thermoelectric heating and cooling company, was founded in Traverse City by Charles Cauchy in 2012. In 2017, Boomerang Catapult provided the initial capital to fund advances in automotive technology product R&D and business growth. Responding to market demand, Promethient sold a portion of its intellectual property portfolio in March 2020 to Gentherm, a multi-vertical thermal management technology company based in Northville, Michigan. Today, using proprietary intellectual property, Promethient’s Traverse City manufacturing facility produces heating and cooling units for seat manufacturers in the automotive, marine, and power sports industries, and has development programs in progress with enterprises working in off-highway large equipment, aviation, and luxury stadium seating. Promethient’s Thermavance seat heating and cooling capabilities have been adopted by Polaris, among others.
